How Can I Buy Products At Bounce?
From the time a stylist begins their journey in this field, they’re inundated with products. Good products, bad products, product suggestions, trial and error, developing new products, products for every single step, cleansing, conditioning, treatment, colouring, toning, styling. You probably know that, like anything, there is a very wide range of products AND their quality. Ingredients such a silicon, sulfates and parabens are VERY common, especially in easily convenient-to-buy stores.
However, over time, these ingredients and their detriment to your hair have been realized; but that doesn't stop the industry from continuing to use them. The marketing is WILD in this industry. You only need to take a walk down the aisle of a drug store to see it. And the wording, the photos, the descriptions, wow! They are gooood! They’re good at making you think that is THE product for you. I really do have to be consciously aware of what is happening or I fall for marketing in a snap! It’s nearly impossible to keep up to speed on EVERY product out there, even for seasoned professionals. And while your stylist may not know EVERY product you ask about or use; they can direct you to products they know the quality of and recommend for you, but also can give you things to look for in your current or future products and what to avoid. They can also help guide you in how to use the products that are best for your hair and your lifestyle.
Another thing that stylists are inundated with is the notion that in order to make any real money in this business, they NEED to have retail on hand and sell product to their clients. The notion that this is how a stylist makes money is a strong narrative. But maybe not always reality. You buy a product, mark it up, sell it and make money, right? I mean, that’s how pretty much everything works. From a different perspective, a stylist buys a certain dollar amount of product (think hundreds of dollars in investment), marks up and sells the product, and then has to take the “profit” from said product, to replace and buy more product that they just sold. It’s a never-ending cycle and the profit margins on products generally aren’t so high that it makes up any significant income.
We recognize and discuss the importance of using proper, high quality products and know that product use can absolutely affect not only your hair health, but also how your hair looks.
So how do we work it for our clients if we don’t sell retail in the salon??
Our stylists will make recommendations for you based on your hair, your goals and what you need, if you aren’t sure, just ask! Some of our individual stylists do have a limited supply of products that they sell, which is through them personally, not through our salon. The majority of product sales is done through our affiliate links on our website. Why is this awesome? Because you can order it from home, while on a walk, in the bathtub, before bed, wherever the thought comes, and it will be shipped directly to your door!
Through these links, you should be able to find the products used or recommended by your stylist to order. If you have any questions you can reach out to your stylist directly by selecting them through the link below!
